Here’s tae us!; A Celebration of Stonehouse
‘Here’s tae us!’ is the last instalment of three books detailing the history of Stonehouse. This publication, including over 200 photographs and illustrations, details a wealth of interesting facts and stories of the villages long and eventful past.
The book provides residents, visitors and children the opportunity to learn of the village and the people who have built, worked and fought for over the centuries. Together the three books and indeed the smaller booklets encourage a greater understanding and appreciation of the village and how we all have our part to play in its development over the coming years.
The book highlights a number of historical chapters including; the Barony of Stonehouse, Ninian and the Stonehouse connection, the discovery of a new Roman road, Cander Moss SSSI, Stonehouse pipe band, the Stonehouse petition against the Act of Union, the Weavers Society, local castles, worthies and inhabitants of note, Stonehouse market and fishing pools of the Avon. The book also recalls the past forty years of Stonehouses’ development as previous authors have done in their lifetime in recognising the importance of recording our present society and those who have contributed to the identity of the village today. This book is a limited print of 400 books.
